The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday informed the Colombo Magistrate that investigations have revealed that the cause of death of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen was not an accident death but murder.
The CID submitted these facts before Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris.
The CID submitted that the investigations have revealed the wounds on the burnt body of Thajudeen, including the one on the back of his head had been caused by an impact of a blunt weapon, the wound on the neck caused by a sharp weapon and the wounds and fractures caused to the main parts of the body were by blunt weapon.
The CID informed the Magistrate’s Court that fractures were observed in the ribs, thigh bones while a muscle of the right leg had been cut by a broken bottle. It also submitted that some teeth had been broken by assault.
The CID also submitted that these facts were revealed when the officers were questioned on the flaws of the Government Analyst’s report and flaws in the postmortem report of Thajudeen’s remains.
The CID also prayed before Court to order those officers who conducted the postmortem to issue the final report of the postmortem as the same has not been issued. The CID also prayed to summon before court the Judicial Medical Officers who conducted the postmortem. The Court postponed further hearing for today.
